It’s sad that V will join the ever-increasing list of shows that were cancelled just as they hit their stride. As the human resistance to the seemingly peaceful (but actually fiendish) Visitor invasion moves up a gear, V’s blend of modern special effects, classically kitsch sci-fi narrative and knowing winks to the 1983 original was just starting to get good. The cliffhanger – given that we’ll never know the outcome – is especially bittersweet.
