Dubai-based singer-songwriter Craig Perry, one of the finalists in our Street to Stage competition last year, released his debut EP – Small Steps, Big Shoes – last month. The five-track recording comprises remastered versions of the four songs Perry entered into the contest, plus a live acoustic take of “Song For The Lonely.”

“It’s just something I needed to do,” says Perry of the EP. “It’s an achievement. And it kind of wraps up that chapter.”

As Perry revealed in December, his first recording as a solo artist could also be his last. “I’ve now got this group of very talented, very tight musicians who are all loving the project,” he says.

Although he’s written, “f***ing loads of new songs,” Perry doesn’t rule out the possibility that some tracks on Small Steps might reappear in the future. “You add in those other parts – backing vocals, strings – and you’ve got a track that goes from this [he holds his hands a few inches apart] to f***ing big,” he says. “We’ll probably re-record some. Hopefully very soon.”

In the meantime, Perry plays his official EP launch gig on February 7th before closing out The Fridge’s Concert Series on March 3rd.
