Axl Rose Confirms 'Chinese Democracy' Sequel
Guns N' Roses singer also says a remix album is on the way
Let the countdown commence: Axl Rose has confirmed the existence of two finished Guns N' Roses albums to follow up their 2008 LP Chinese Democracy that could come out in the near future.
"We recorded a lot of things before Chinese was out," Rose said in an interview with Revolver. "We've worked more on some of those things and we've written a few new things. But basically, we have what I call the second half of Chinese. That's already recorded. And then we have a remix album made of the songs from Chinese. That's been done for a while, too."
Rose said that he did not have a timeline for when the albums would come out, but he did intend to address it after Guns N' Roses conclude its residency at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. (The group's final show is scheduled for June 7th.) "We're going to start looking very seriously at what we're doing," Rose said in regard to a release plan. Before that happens, however, Guns N' Roses will release a 3-D concert film of their Vegas residency to theaters on June 18th and 19th.
Previously, Guns N' Roses guitarist Richard Fortus had reported that the group was "working on stuff." When pressed for a release schedule, he said, "Hopefully very soon we're going to have new stuff out," adding, "well, in the next year."
Elsewhere in his interview with Revolver, which coincided with Rose's acceptance of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the magazine's Golden Gods Awards in April, the singer named the one artist he thinks should also receive a Lifetime Achievement Award. "Mick Jagger is one of the greatest athletes who ever lived, just for how much he puts into it onstage," he said. "I saw the Stones in Vegas on their last tour and it's evident how hard they work at it." When Revolver asked if Rose could see himself performing at age 70, the singer said, "I'm starting to get there! Bastard makes you work for it, doesn't he?"
