THE READ John Varvatos: Rock in Fashion
Fashion's rockstar designer spotlights the real rockers in new book

"I wouldn't be where I am today if not for the music I discovered growing up in Detroit in the late Sixties and Seventies," says menswear designer John Varvatos, explaining the motivation behind his collossal new book, which showcases and celebrates some of the most culturally and sartorially iconic figures in rock & roll history. Images of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin, Green Day and The Rolling Stones feature alongside quotes from the likes of David Bowie, Iggy Pop and Patti Smith, and commentary from Varvatos to explain the impact these rockers have had, not only on his own design work, but on fashion and pop culture over the past five decades.
